British Honda engineers get green light from Japan

Honda UK’s small UK vehicle engineering centre is all set to grow in size and importance following approval from Japanese bosses. The British car development base supports Honda’s main European development centre in Frankfurt but has been taking on increasing responsibility in recent years. The new face of the facelifted VW Eos is unveiled today ahead of its public debut at the LA motor show 2010. The design takes a modest step away from the 2006 Eos convertible, with shades of the new VW design language seen across the Polo, Passat and Sharan.  There's a stronger emphasis on the horizontal lines carried throughout the new design becoming stronger and more obvious towards the rear: a new corporate grille complete with chrome highlights is joined by LED daytime running lights that make the Eos look a shade wider and lower than its predecessor. Old distractions as bad as new tech

DRIVERS are as much distracted by "old technology" as by new gadgets, according to a survey. Adult passengers, twiddling with the radio and children in the car were the main distractions causing either a near-miss or an accident, the poll of more than 18,000 motorists found. These three distractions came ahead of operating the sat-nav and talking on a mobile phone as the biggest reasons for lack of driver attention.
